what can I do with a log head?

hi, new to ford six, I have a 1970 250 with a log head.I wanted to know if anyone can give me some advise on reworking this head.I was thinking of cutting the intake off and reworking it to fit a 4 barrel carb and helping airflow with a turbo. I am looking for the best way to hop this head up and easiest way to configure the turbo.I do not have headers yet as I was thinking of following some ideas from that 11 sec maverick that had the stock intake.also if anyone has any idea of how much boost I can run with stock pistons and crank and rods?I really would appreciate any info especially what can b done as far as this head is concerened. thanks!

Honestly, you could spend a couple weeks reading the current and past posts and you'll get a good idea of what works and what doesn't.

A lot of people start off thinking they'll just saw off the log and go from there. I think you'll find, unless you have extraordinary construction skills, that you'll be better of working with the head you have or going with a new aluminum head from CI.

Once, and if, you are ready to go with some boost you find there that are any number of very capable people with real world experience (Bort62) that will help you.

In the meantime, read and learn.

If you are going to do the turbo thing... there are a couple of posts you definitely need to read. They are stickies in "Turbo, Supercharger, Nitrous, and EFI Tech" forum. Bort62 tells you how to do it & Lincs200 gives you a comprehensive build up with tons of pics. The 250 & 200 are basically the same, so any mods done that improve a 200 will likely work on a 250 as well. Lincs200 basically kept going until he blew up just to see the limits of stock components (and had a ton of fun doing it!)

Meanwhile, before you get too crazy with chopping off the log... get the Ford Falcon Six Cylinder Performance Handbook. It details a ton of things to do to help these little guys make a bit more power than stock.

I think that you'll find that if you do some homework most of your ??? will be answered before you even ask them, and then when you do ask you'll get some really good answers.

Thanks all for your response.I have actually done a lot of research but have a lot more to do. Its difficult to take in so much reading sometimes. Thats why I posted a question here somtimes I find that people that have actually done these things to their own cars have a lot of usefull info.Thanks again and I will look into the falcon guide u mentioned.When I get started I will probabally be asking many more questions.thanks again everyone.
