I am starting to get some stuff together to get my good 200 ready for the turbo and nitrous. I think I have everything under control as far as what I need but I am still not 100% sure on the best cam for it. I do not want to spend the money to get a custom cam maid so I would like to just get one that is ready to go. I have been looking at the FSPP 268/274 on a 112 LSA. My thoughts are the bigger exhaust will help the old log head out some and the 112 LSA will have very little overlap. Then again there are lots of turbo V8 Mustangs doing great with big cams with more overlap. What do you guys think? What are some of the other turbo sixes running?

Hey Dan,
Haven't heard from ya in awhile!
I think that's the same cam that Kelly has in her Falcon. I can't get on www.fordsixparts.com right now for some odd reason to verify, but the 274 duration part sounds correct.
I think from a steet/strip standpoint it's a great cam.

Dan,
The cam we've got is the 274S as listed on the FSPP site:

FordSix Performance Cams - USA
264S: 264/264 - 214/214 - .440/.440 - 110* - 1800-5000
274S: 274/274 - 224/224 - .450/.450 - 110* - 2000-5400
280S: 280/280 - 238/238 - .425/.425 - 108* - 2300-6000
280H: 280/280 - 231/231 - .480/.480 - 109* - 2500-7000
264D: 264/274 - 208/222 - .453/.480 - 108-112* - 1500-5200

If we have to tear about Kelly's motor I'm going to try the 280H and see what happens! Although the 280H might be better on a 200 vs. a 250.

Will, Alex, Good to talk to you! I have been doing great! Working hard at my new job. That's okay though......good car money! Anyways about the cams.......Will, you would try that 280? I have the Clifford 280/280 on 108 LSA in my 200. BIG cam! A little much for it N/A but it really came on with any amount of nitrous! I wonder how it would do with the turbo? The 108 LSA is what I don't like about it. I will try to find the cam card for it but I know that it does have a little bit of overlap. Man, I wish these cams were easier to change out in the car! What do you guys think?

Dan

According to Mike's site you can order the 280 cam with any LSA up to 112*.
Ya I agree that the 280 cam with a 108 LSA is too big. But if you pull that in to maybe 110 then it should work very well. Also remember that Kelly's Falcon is mainly used as a drag car. Although it performs very well right now on the street.

Dan I swaped my cam with the engine still in the car....it was a lot of work, ESPECIALLY the f*&@%$ lifters, but I didn't have much of a choice.
Oh, and about the 280* Cliffy cam it does

Will, I forgot about him being able to order it with diffrent LSA. I actually talked to him about that a while ago. I wonder if it takes any longer to get them. Something to think about anyways. I was kind of thinking about using your cam seeing as how it has done so good in the Falcon! WAAAAY faster than my junk.

Alex, In the car?!!!! You my friend are NOT scared! I see you know what I am talking about with the big 280 cam!!!! I could not beleive it the first time I sprayed my car with a little nitrous! It's like the cam just loves to eat it up or something!!!

Dan

Yeah man, in the car. Like I said the WORST part was getting the lifters out, I had to push them from the bottom with a long "stick", it's a messy situation with a lot of cursing, so no children should be around
Then after removing the front bumper I had to bend the sheet metal a bit on the front valance so it could slide out. But other than that it was no biggie.

Later,

Alex
