What engine - XF falcon

Gday guys

Just recently I bought a 1986 XF Falcon S with 4 speed manual. I'm not to sure what engine it has but the engine code is E, I can't seem to find what this means, fordinfo.com has information but does not list E as an engine code, so I have no idea! If anyone could verify what engine it is I would be very happy... Cheers

i is the code of the head e1/e2, a typical ford six engine number is jg23.. this is found under the exhaust manifold near the water pump.
With an e head on it it might be fuel injected but being nearly 20 years old alot can happen
