Help with cam 250 cross flow

Hey guys I’m abit of a newbie when it comes to doing up older engines however I seem to make it work , I have recently brought a pretty much bone stock( to my knowledge ) 88 xf s pack Ute , it has the 250 cross flow , I am wanting to put a massively lumpy cam in it however I have no idea what cam specs mean just looks like gibberish to me I’m not all to concerned about much power gain although it would be nice i just live the sound of massively lumpy cams , I also red a post that said to diy port/polish the head while your at it , would I need to do any other head work things other then valve springs ? Any help with what would be the Lumpiest cam I could do keeping it relatively as low cost as possible would be great , not sure if it matters but I have already ripped the est dizzy and computer out just put in a 2 wire electric one so not sure if that would come into play with what cams ect , thanks you in advance guys :)

Ok, lotsa confusion here, XF is unleaded and has lower compression ratio. Crow cams have cams for cross flow engines. If your trying for a performance up grade, first you need to asses the condition of your engine, its a waste of time trying to hot up something thats worn out. So for a performance upgrade, start with bolt ons, carby, manifold, headers exhaust system, Aussiespeed has some go manifolds. If you want a cam that will sound lumpy, but wont do much for performance, without other mods, then pick the Crow14672, this will definately give you that. However it will need matching springs etc and wont come cheap, cams are listed at $500. You might try the facebook pages for 250crossflows, there is one and its active. As to head work, if your a novice, dont try any porting, leave that o the experts. IMO Id get another engine and play with that, then swap over.

Okay thank you guys , yeah the engine is in good condition it was freshens up a couple years ago by prev owner and I have the receipts for it , I’ll check them cams out thank yous heaps

Go for a cam with not a huge total lift. 14686, I made 220rwhp and lows13s on 1/4mile in full trim te cortina.
I have 14770 in my car now. not as much power and revs not there but the idle is choppy as. load up vid later.
stock rockers will take around 540 lift from what I read.
