Anybody know where or what may swap into an 81 200, as far as a flexplate and clutch go. Thinkin about puttin in a rebuilt 4-speed, but im converting from an auto. Need to know where I can find one. Thnx.

I would imagine it used a flat flywheel and 9 inch clutch, though they may have changed that later as the last years of the 200 they used another different bell housing IIRC.

There should be at least one person who can confirm this though.

Do you know the specs of the flexpate and clutch that you have?

When you go to a clutch its not a flexplate anymore its a fly wheel .. way thicker to hold the Prusher plate, and give the clutch disc something to grab a hold of..

Ok so does the actual clutch disc mount onto the flywheel? The flywheel I have on there for the c4, would it be usable for the manual or do I have to change that out? Its been a long time since i messed around with tranny swaps.

A manual transmission requires a flywheel. This is completely different than a flexplate.

So no, the flexplate that your C4 uses has no use w/ a manual transmission.

The clutch disc is held in place by the pressure plate. It does not bolt to anything.

The pressure plate bolts to the flywheel, and captures the clutch disc against it when the clutch pedal is not depressed.
