I know a lot of people have trouble with it but I have a petronix 2 in my 73 and have had no problems, what is the favorite on the 200 six, I need to upgrade from points one of these days---thanks

I'm using the PTX 2 with a flashbang coil and have had no problems whatsoever. I'll probably go with a DUI in a while.

I'm running a DUI and it's working out great! Mike just posted that the same folk responsible for the DUI just came out with a custom DSII, which if I had the choice again I'd problably would have kept it all Ford and gone with the custom DSII.

8) in the 64 falcon i have an allison xr700 with a crane coil. it works pretty good, though it could be better.

in the 66 falcon i have a ds2 dist hooked up to a chrysler ignition box and msd blaster 3 coil. it works great. engine lights off first time even in sub 30 degree weather, with the choke standing wide open.

Pertronix I with a 40,000 coil, .50 gapped plugs and Accell 8mm wires.

I swapped it three years ago on this daily driver (300/week) and haven't a bit of trouble, haven't even changed the plugs.

Is there an advantage to the DS2 over the Pertronix?

You can find it in the junkyards :D
The parts are also available at any parts store.

Oh, so it's just a cost savings. My coil and Pert was about $100 from JCWhitney.

DSII + MSD6A = :shockin:

Same here, except 6AL (with rev limiter)
MSD makes hellaciously powerful sparkage!

'78 F-250 is stock DS II with a TFI coil/bracket from 80's TFI vehicle.(square coil)
The TFI coil is a step up from the old, round oil-filled units.

DSII + MSD6A + Motorsport SVO Ultra coil + 9mm Ford Racing wires, .050" gapped Motorcraft BSF42C plugs (the famous 289/302 stock plug). My problems are elsewhere...

DS1 (small cap) and GM HEI triggering an MSD coil works pretty good.

If I ever get around to it, I'll get another MSD box off ebay and go back to DS/MSD/MSD.

I'll second the cool sparky smiley about MSD - I've never seen a spark jump an inch-wide gap before, let alone with such violence!

I ran a pertonix for 3-4 years with no problems popped in a duraspark I picked up for cheap and am running that. if you want I have a spare duraspark dissy you can have (cap/rotor/adaptor/wires) sitting in peoria on a spare motor now that I am going to a 2.3L TFI dissy. pm me if you are interested
