I am curious as to price and availability for the aluminum crossflow head?

And a 4bbl intake? And shipping?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

They're out there. Why a 4-barrel? The manifold will run to more than the head unless the head is worked over before posting.

By the time you box up a head and a set of headers, the crate's almost that large you'd plonk the whole motor in. I'll ask the local wreckers this week (final parts run for a very full crate).

Does Ausheads Phil have any extras?

Adam.

I'm looking for one also. Maybe if enough of us show interest, someone like Azcoupe will import some, or else maybe we could work out a small group purchase to save on shipping etc.

The heads will probably cost you about $100US with the stock intake. Used headers will cost you about $60US new set obviously more. Call any Ford wrecker in Aus or N.Z. they're very helpful. Find another FordSixer in your area and share the costs of shipping you'd be amazed at how easy and inexpensive it can be when you share a crate.

Also, when calling remember that the Aussies call headers "EXTRACTORS". Good hunting.

Good idea! Anlushac11 im in chicago so were not too far Pm me if you want to talk sharing a crate.

I too would like to get one, and I am in Central Illinois. A 3 way box share would be sweet! 8)

Let me know fellas!

my cabin is near princeton il and I am there almost every weekend so it would be easy to hook up. COOL!!!

If you guys are serious, I'll check to see what I can get them for. I have crates coming over about every two months and can accomodate the extra heads for very little on the shipping side. Plus you won't have to worry about customs. I'll get back to you in a couple of days as I'm going to be in the hospital for two or three days starting tomorrow (minor back surgery).

Mike, I cant speak for anyone else but I do want a head with intake, gaskets, headers and maybe even a carb. If you PM me and let me know prices, I can send $$$! The 2 month thing is not a problem for me because this wil be my winter project.

Get well soon. I spent 2 weeks in the hospital in traction for a bad back so "I feel your pain". Take care......

I am seriouse about it too. 2 months would be fine and easier in my budget.

I'm going to fire my 200 x-flow up as soon as I get an intake figured out, which should be soon. I think its going to run very well.

But, gentle reader, this is not for novices...... :!:

For those of you interested in doing this, I warn you, it takes some rudimentary mechanical skill and some ability to fabricate and work with materials. There is no kit and some machining is required. The engine MUST be removed and completely disassembled and then rebuilt.

If you are thinking this is a simple bolt on for your tired 200, think again. This is a serious mod for someone with a dead engine that needs rebuilding.

Im getting ready to rebuild my '80 200 and I was going to show the pics and descriptions of the work needed to see what the machine shop would charge to do the mods.

The machinist is considered a wizard and for a few of my friends he's the only one they will let touch their engine parts. He comes highly recommended.

The guy has actually built several Ford inline sixes. When I talked to him in May he was building a '68 200 with a Oz 250 head for a guy. He was suprised that he has only seen a handful of Ford I6's in the last 20 years and now he has done 4 and mine would be the 5th one in 6 months. He said he considered it a very good motor.

I would have him do the block and head mods and have the head water jackets welded and then have the head surfaced.

I have not jumped 100% into this yet as my Stang has a Duraspark II ignition and your info says I gotta come up with a crab style cap as the stock one wont clear the intake.

I also am highly interested in the aluminum head to remove 40lbs off the nose of my Fox body Stang. I want good handling as well as the I6 low end grunt.

If I do go through with this I will have a modified Oz 250 head with 4 bbl intake for sale.

Super! As long as you have an experienced machinist helping out you should be fine.

I just wanted everyone to be aware that the crosflow is not a bolt on like the 2v.

Hi Jack,

How much longer are the push rods over the stockers? I'll be going for the American block version 250 running 6.2 inch rods and some KB pistons that were ment for a long rod 305.
I talked to KB and there is enough meat in their pistons to cut some reverse domes to match the chamber.

Is there anyone over here that knows about porting these heads?
Would a good Cleveland engine shop know how to do them?

John

I understand that the crossflow head is not a bolt on like the other heads. But unless I am missing something it does not look like a really hard mod either if you are building an engine out of the car. I have a spare block which will be used for this buildup over the winter. In the meantime my stang has a nice running engine in it. So I plan on taking my time, using my machine shop if something is over my head and asking tons of questions here.

well if you IL guys are getting a large crate sent up in a few months I might be able to get in on it too. kinda broke right now but have some work lined up.

OK it looks like there may be a workaround for the Duraspark II distributor clearance problem. Apparently we can use the shorter Duraspark cap and rotor on the Duraspark II setup

On the crossflow head's 2bbl intake is it Holley 2bbl compatible or will it require a intake?

And any idea what the Redline 4bbl intake would run? And does said intake have a Holley flange or a Quadrajet?

ANOTHER THING TO KEEP IN MIND FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN THE CROSSFLOW HEAD MOD!!!

According to Jack, we will need to run a Oz crossflow cam due to the different valve arrangement.

IMHO this is a good thing. Crow cams has a large selection of hyd cams for the Crossflow. When you look at cam specs remember that the Crow cams are designed for 250 cid engines So you may want to step down one step from Crows recommendations for a 200.
