What is pre ignition? and would it cause a rattling sound coming from the rear end of the engine:starter/bellhousing/block/head?
8) pre-ignition is where the air/fuel mix ignites before it is supposed to. the causes are the same as detonation, it just happens early. as for the rattling sound, check to make sure your starter is bolted up properly. often times a loose starter rattles against the ring gear.
