All Small Six What is this noise

I’ve recently noticed a new noise coming from the passenger side of my Bronco’s 170ci. The motor was rebuilt about 7 years ago and has less than 5k miles on it.

The noise is most prevalent at idle and low RPM and I’ve already checked the bolts on the exhaust manifold.

I checked the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge and I have 52psi at idle and there are no flakes in it. Does it sound like rod knock?

It could be an exhaust leak

Could be an exhaust leak or something else. Take the exhaust manifold off and check and or replace the gaskets at the head and exhaust pipe to manifold. Eliminate one thing at a time.

You might try to just tighten the bolts the bottom of the exhaust manifold to the pipe, with the doughnut gasket. I’ve had that develop a leak

I was on a rode trip in Denver, on my way back to NC. Sounded like a knock and gave me heart failure . I was very relieved

Exhaust leak, crank, flange gasket. Take the manifold off and have a good look.

It doesn't sound like an exhaust leak.
