What to change / Check on the stock dizzy

I have gotten my old dizzy out and its old and worn...! VERY WORN...

The only good thing was the OEM cap and Pertonix.

Can i purchase a rebuilt dizzy from stock and just replace the gear!
 
You would see a great improvemnt even over pertronix by going to a ds2. It will be about 40 bucks more cuz you have to buy the ignition box but hook up is a sinch. You can even use your old plug wires if you get a cap from a 76 maverick. I had pertronix for a little while and did see an improvement over points but the duraspark made pertronix look like points.
 
I went to the DUI site and was blown away. I also got to and saved the article from FordMuscle. I called Performance Distributors and verified the setup.

DROP IT IN....hook up one wire to 12v and the other to your tach. Tweak your timing and go. (For me its that easy since I am already gapped at .050")

So I am investing in a RED colored unit from Mike (Ford Six Shop) to gain another 15-20 ponies Will RED go well with Ford Blue or should I get the BLUE one...

You should save your money and do a duraspark instead :)

Save your money - so you can spend it on more stuff from Mike, of course.
 
Wellllllllll......its gotta be spent somewhere....and it is a good price considering what Perf Dist sells em for...

And if i was redoing my whole engine why not go this way...instead of the old way with another brick to bolt into the engine compartment and of course you get to choose colors....

So.....nah.... DUI for ME!

I can understand the DUI upgrade, but the DS over the Pertronix? Is it really that much of an improvement? I love my Pertronix and the car runs fantastic. Are you advising I tear it out, purchase DS and reinstall for a drastic improvment? If so, what accounts for the improved performance?

I have a pertronix I setup with the HOT coil and want to exchange out for the DUI on my new engine. I will offer up my kit for cheap in a month from now.
 
I had a petronix 2 for a short while with a stock coil it ran good but i still had a small miss. Now i cant say that the ds2 or pertronix is better in the end that is for the user to decide i didnt get a major seat of the pants feel with the ds2 but the car definetly ran smoother than the pertronix 2i even have the small cap from a 76 ford so it doesnt have the wider terminals for better spark efficiency from the module.
 
I have heard that the Pertronix II has always been less then expected. Many folks have bypassed the two in favor of the I. I did. After getting the I and using it for a year...I swapped to the II and didn't like the problems. So back to I and the II sent back for exchange. Car ran good until the new episode with the blown head gasket.
