What would be a fair price to have someone rebuild my 200?

What should I expect to pay to have it rebuilt, mild performance mods included. I will provide the performance parts but not the rebuild kit.

You should be able to get short block done for around 800 bucks. That is how much I paid. I already had an aussie head rebuilt and ready to bolt on so you would have to add on the head work as well but I would think under 1500 for the whole thing.

we paid $216 for a rebuild kit for a 1994 Jeep 242CID 4.0 HO engine and did the rebuild in a weekend. Now the pulling an engine and dropping it back in on a mustang/falcon is a LOT easier that a 94 cherokee cluster f*** sport so Id imagine you could do it all in 3 days easily. You can get the Piston Ring Compressor,Ridge Reamer,Hone and Piston Ring Groove Cleaner from autoZone. They rent all the tools you need to do it.You'll pay like $80 dollars to rent the tools. The thing with that is you pay full price for the tools and get it refunded when you bring the tools back. The guy at my AutoZone told me to keep em if I wanted but I don't rebuild engines THAT often.Just get a shop manual and fallow the directions and you'll have it done for a FRACTION of the price.Even if you order pistons, crank, cam, con rods and everything you'll probably save 800 - 1000 dollars in my opinion.Oh yeah don't forget to take your block to Napa or another machine shop to get it hot tanked and magnafluxed. It's only around $30 to do it here at Napa.
