I have a '73 and a '74 250 and can get my hands on a '70 200 pretty easily.

What would be the best head of the 3 and best short block of the 3 to use together? Any big diffrence between the 1973 and 1974 250s?

This car sees about 50/50 highway vs. around town driving. What would be a good cam to use?

Don't want to do nothing radical. Just want to get a little better performance.

This is for a 1974 Maverick, daily driver.

Whats a good header for cheap or does anyone have a used one they want to get rid of for cheap?

I am also planning to do the Duraspark II conversion.

Go here, and look at all the specs. Look at the comment codes and then see bottom of chart for comments. See which cam best fits your needs. If you are getting a cam and header, I would suggest getting a Holley 2bbl carb also. Makes a big difference.

What would you do?

Build a good 250 bottom and swap on a large valve, large intake late 70's early 80's head.


If you are going more for mileage then build a 200, and keep the newer small head you have.
