While I do not intend on selling my falcon I just want some opinions on how much it might be worth. I have a 1961 ford falcon staion wagon deluxe. I have had the front end converted to 64' mustang so I could someday do the disk brake conversion. It has a strong running and very cleaned up 66 mustang 200 in it with the original but newly rebuilt 2-speed. I have a nice custom pioneer sound system worth at least $1000+ in it. The interior in all pretty new with custom vintage looking seats and new carpet. I put all new brakes and american racing wheels on it too. I also have custom 2 and a half inch flowmaster exhaust on it too. I may sound insane but I have every little reciept of what I spent on it and it comes up past $11000. Its not quite finished but at this point it would sure look it with a decent paint job. So what do you think its worth, would you buy it?? I love my car but its a money pit, im at the point where it just might go in a garage and sit there for a few more years till I can finish it. Im only 18 and I bought the car when I was 15 and have spent every dime on it. Im sorry to say it but im going to buy a 05' KIA wagon to replace my wagon for the next few years. Anyway I just love talking about my car because in my eyes the round body wagons are the most beautiful cars ever!!! So give me your input. Also if for some wild reason this makes someone else want it make me an offer I cant refuse. Thanks to all my friends here!

hey man, i know how you feel. i just went through this sort of thing with my falcon. but like you've said, you should put it away for awhile and pick it back up later. i've gotten into past projects that ripped my wallet apart--luckily most of them weren't worth me continuing after i took a step back and looked at every aspect, so i was sad for a small amount of time. others i haven't been so lucky. this time and from now on--i'll never get rid of a project car unless i have too.

anyway, it really seems to me that you'd kick yourself if you got rid of it. also, it seems like storing it is no biggie. for some it is, if storing it isn't a issue then i'd definetly think about just putting it away for awhile. you'll be glad you did later. there's something about getting rid of a car that you truly love that haunts you down the road.. i've already experianced it and know many older folks that have as well and kick themself for it. may sound funny, but it's like the saying about THE girl...you know? "the one that got away". don't do it man!! :D

Its not what we think its worth its what is it worth to you. I have $10000 in my 65 stang now someone else might not think its worth half that but to me its worth 10 times that. Beauty is in th eye of the beholder.

An automobile is only worth what another person is willing to payfor it.
Just as in a poker hand, I'm holding a pair of twos, If I want the jackpot I'll bid up the pot if I really want that pot. Someone else will bid up the pot for a different hand they are holding. I'd give my teeth for a 1966 oldsmobile Cutlass. that I owned back in 1975. If only I could find that car. the reality of automobile ownership is your vehicle does have a market price whatever the make or model. The numbers matching 289's are worth at least 2000 dollars more than A 200 six Mustang. body condition is a major factor, air conditioning and power sterring another. 1966 was "the year" for Mustangs being as around 1 million were produced. These cars are realistically, in good condition, readily available to the public and go for around $4000 running and looking good. They all have had around $8000 plus put into them just in parts.
I'f be willing to bet that there are at least 50.000 models of the 1966 Mustang still licensed and running and another 10,000 available for resoration. I personally have reciepts for parts that total $11,000. for my six cylinder. Since I have come to that figure I basically have stopped putting any money into it. To get out the 11.000 I'd probably have to hang onto this car for another ten years then sell it for the 11,000. In the meantime I drive it on occassion at least once a week, and enjoy the stares compliments and advise I recieve from all those who see the car.
Another reality: Don't try to make money in auto restoration. You will loose your ass. Putting a 289 in a 200 model decreses the value. Good body work will always increase the value of a car. I have also put over 2000 hours of work into the car and at mim=nimum wage thats around 10,000 dollars. I could have went to my real job and grossed 68,000.
Noone is going to give me 21,000 for a 40 year old common model car. but everyone wants it.
I drive a new tundra 29,000 dollars. driving everyday for the expeted life of ten years in comfort and style costs:$15 dollars a day.
You have to love an old car nad percieve it as a hobby or passion.
$11,000 1966 Mustang driving now for 3 years= $11 / day and I'm stylish and envied. The only way to get your money back out of a car is to drive it.
