I just had my 65 c4 rebuilt. I put one quart of fluid in the torque convert, and three in the tranny. I started the car and at idle I had no measre on the stick and it wouldn't move when I put it in gear. well so it went measure-quart, measure-quart, and measure. So 7 quarts later (including the one in the torque) and it finally moved and while idleing the level on the stick was good. The tranny shiffed great and I drove it for about five miles. But when I put the dip stick in the tranny it pinched the o-ring. It was dripping a little, so I thought no bigging. Got home from work the next day and there was at least a quart and a half on the floor. Now when I put the tranny in neutral, I can push the car forward but not back. So I propped the back up and put it in 1st and nothing 2nd and 3rd moved the tiers and no reverse either. How must fluid does a c4 take. do you check while idleing or with engin off? Please help, I am afraid that I put to much in a damaged the rebuilt tranny( oh what can happen if to much is put in?) Thanks Ty :?:

I do believe that a C4 will take 9 1/2 to 10 Qts with the converter empty. If I am wrong someone will correct me.

You must check the fluid with the car in park or neutral, at operating temp (Once warmed up.) Don't check it cold.
