Where can I get my engine on a Dyno?

I read all the time about Dyno testing or tuning an engine, where should I start to look locally for a shop that can do this? Once I get the engine and everything together I would like to have it tuned this precise....

Is this something a shop would have or do I need to look for a more performance oriented place????

Thanks

Jimbo

When I had my 250 head cleaned and checked for cracks that same shop had a flow bench ($60/hr) and an engine dyno, same hourly rate. And a local performance shop has a car (chassis dyno) so I guess it would depend on what stage your project is in and if both are available to you. Of course if you wanted to go all out you could do both and determine how much hp you are losing through the drivetrain..

just reread the initial post, and if you want to do engine tuning, in the car you will need a chassis dyno like Mustangaroo used.

jimbo,
This months issue of grassroots motorsports has a big article on dyno tuning. Featured prominently is a tuning specialist from Atlanta. http://www.grmotorsports.com/
Give them a call and they will prbably hook you up. Otherwise there are probably a few shops in your area that offer dyno tuning. just look in the yellow pages

Proper dyno tuning (like required for Holleys and ignition systems) is not cheap. If you just want a "flying run" and print out, some shops might do that, or else look for a car club "dyno day". These are common enough here as fundraisers for charity - I guess the same applies in the US. Suggest you get 1500-2000 miles on the approximately tuned engine, first.

Regards, Adam.
