I want a " Power By Ford " valve cover for my 200 I6. when I'm done with the rebuild/ turbo, the motor will be jet black gloss and I would like the valve cover to be black also, but have the lettering in white. do I need to go to the junkyard and search, or can I ask for a certin year valve cover from the parts store?

I got mine at a junkyard. There are a couple product years to look at. The older ones have the lettering only. Newer ones have a bracket spotwelded on the side that is not neccesary with a non-smog plant. The size is all the same.
On the other hand, somebody had a chrome one and a source. Look through the posts from a while back.

Howdy All:

The bracket on the side is handy for mounting cable carb linkage.

I had mine nickel plated and it looks great against a gloss black engine, fire wall and inner fenders.

The recycler is the best bet to locate one. You could probably get the whole late model head for the same price.

Adios, David

Over here, 1960 to 1967 ones had just the FORD block letters.

Then with the 1968 XT's it was Power By FORD up untill it disapeared in 1976.

It was plain during the 72 to 77 emissions era, as there were dual PCV and oil filler inlets.

Then, when the 200/250 got called the 3.3 or 4.1, Ford started using its old 1932 Ford script. Ford started refinig the emission gear to make it more simple. Suddenly, the Power by Ford rocker came back. Around 1978, I think, until the last Fairmont in late 1983.

I picked mine up on Ebay about a year ago for about $10. You just have to keep a eye out. They show up from time to time...

Ditto that. It's nice thing to have if you ever want to swap a 2 bbl on!!

Actually, I may have to retract that statement. The tabs are far forward of the throttle linkage (used to mount vacuum/air pump solenoids). It would still be very easy to grind through the spot welds and then sand smooth if you want to take th bracket off.
