Which carb?

I have just finished having my 200 rebuilt and will be assembling shortly.I have 2 carbs.
A rebuilt 1100 that came off my 170 or a Carter YF.
Is there any real upgrade in going to the Carter YF?Both are 1bbl.Or should I look at going to a 2 bbl?Which one?

Howdy Back Steve:

The 1100 from a 170 is rated at 150cfm. An 1100 from a 200 is rated at 185.

What is the YF from? It was used on 170 and 200s. The one from a 170 is rated at 150 cfm. The 200 one is rated at 187. The YF has no SCV for compatibility with the '67 and earlier Load-o-Matic distributors.

What distributor are you using?

The 1100 from the 170 will have your engine down on power.

The YF is designed for a cable linkage and will take some fabrication to adapt.

Steve, I have teh YF on my Falcon, and find it FAR outperforms the Autolite on the exact same engine in my 66 stang... I built both engines identically...

THe linkage is very simple in the 66 stang adn very very similar to my 61 Falcon 200 linkage...

I am not sure what the YF is from>I am going to be using an electronic ignition.
I bought the carb in a package with the distributor,electronic module and wires.

Howdy back:

Is the distributor a Ford piece? Is the module seperate? Does it have a typical cap, like the points distributor, or a larger cap?

If this is a DuraSpark or a DuraSpark II it will not be compatible with the 1100. If the Carter YF is from a 200, I'd go with it. It will have a ported vacuum source for the distributor vacuum advance. You will likely have to do some adapting of linkage, fuel line and air cleaner.

You might want to do a carb kit rebuild before you put it on. The YFs do have a weak accelerator pump system- better to find out now then later.
