i still need to think and carry on a conversation at highway speed, but I want a better sound and no rice!

i've seen the marnaflow 40 & 50 series mentioned before. are these the basic choices & which is better?

Thanks.

I like Super Dyno Max turbo mufflers better than Flo Master. They have a deeper sound to me. A H or X pipe will help tone down the sound if you don't like it too loud.

i think your getting flowmasters and magnaflows confused. two differant muffers ;)

flowmaster models are 40 and 50 series

magnaflows are differant - http://magnaflow.com/

neither will sound like rice... but a flowmaster will sound louder then most magnaflows (besides the race muffer) as for performance your not going to notice much differance with either with a stock motor. even then only a dyno will tell.

Thanks for the input, and yes I was getting the two different types confused. I think that I'll go with one of the Flowmasters.

The 40's are too loud IMHO. i ended up changing to 50's and still think it is too loud but more tolerable. that being said, it sounds wicked at idle and low rpm!

I would like to here what the dyna max sounds like.

good luck
John

This has come up before. You get the throaty sounds from the Flowmaster because of the design. Flowmaster uses a method called cancellation and actually creates turbulence, hence the rumbling. The Dynomax uses absorption and adds sheet metal to the internal chamber that guides the exhaust flow through the chamber. This not only provides a lower noise level but has been shown through Dyno testing that the Dynomax has less backpressure.

Do a search for the different names and read some of the past discussion.

Personally I prefer the Dynomax.

Have fun, Ric.

I have the Dynomax, so I am biased. However, in listening to all the enhaust sound clips in the last year or so posted here, the Dynomax seems to have a lower, bassier tone. The flowmasters (to me anyway) have a higher tone...
