Two companies offer 2 bbl carb adaptors. What I need to know is if anyone has experience with either of them. Is one better than the other?

stovebolt eng. co.
This one is $15

The Clifford one is $68.

Any thoughts? Any reason why one costs so much more than the other?

cliffords orients the carb the correct way...stovebolts angles carb at a slight angle..I am guesing 15 degrees.

others can tell you more.....

Damn, you guys are good!

The transdapt site keeps crashing my work comp. so I'll have to check them out when I get home.

Something strikes me about both adaptors, and that is they have mounting orientation issues. Both could easily be resolved by welding a new base plate onto them, and orienting the holes the way you want them to go

I had some problems with that too, but somehow I managed to get the PDF down.

This should lead you right to the correct file:

If not, I can send the PDF to you if you send me an email.

I bought a TransDapt adapter that adapts small 1V bores to Rochester base 2Vs. This adapter can be attached in two ways over the bore so you can put your carb sideways or forward facing. You'll need the heater plate under it. On top of that adapter I thought of using a 2V adapter I bought from FSPP, to adapt Rochester to Holley pattern.

Afterwards I noticed that TransDapt sell an adapter, that is intended for some C-brand sixies, adapts a big bore 1V to Holley and is much smaller in height than my two pieces. I think that would fit on a Ford log right away or with a little adaptation. I bought the Transdapt just to test my rebuild Autolite and have one less problem point when the new engine is being cranked for the first time.

Got the site to work. The Transdapt piece looks a lot like the stovebolt one.

I think I still like the idea of welding up a new baseplate, and custom fitting it. I've already got a cable type throttle, so it should be relatively easy.

I put the Clifford one on my log with a Weber DGES carb. I had to enlarge the port on the adaptor to match up with the manifold port. I read a post from someone who complained to Clifford about this and supposedly they have fixed it. I read elsewhere that the reason the Stovebolt is on an angle is to fix a float bowl problem with the Weber DG carbs. They cough and sputter on tight cornering. I have experienced this when getting on curved freeway on ramps at high speed.

Chances are the Stovebolt one if off kilter because it was designed to go on a totally different engine: the Chevy stovebolt 6.
