I'm ready to make the switch to an electric fan. I want to put AC on my 63 Ranchero which means a two belt pully in an already crowded fan space. There are so many electric fans out there that I don't know what to look for. Does anyone have a tried and true fan/supplier suggestion?
I'm in Southern Arizona so it's got to really move some air!

I searched back through the achives, but "ELECTRIC FAN" comes up about 2,000 times.

8)

I cant remember the brand but most auto parts stores seem to have the same one or two brands. I would see what size they recommend and go a size larger. And spring for the thermal fan switch.

8) flexilite has the black magic 150 which is a very good fan. use the thermal switch, AND a manual overide as well. cannt go wrong with a backup.

If you have room, find one from a later model Ford. The Taurus fan is a good one and moves a lot of air. They have two speeds.

Wire the low speed thru a relay and a temp switch. That should take care of most needs. Wire the high speed thru a relay to a dash mounted switch. That will help in those extreme traffic situations.

I just got one for my '63 that I too am installing a/c. I got mine from ebay. $45, 16" with a thermostat. I have yet to install because I want to install the alternator first. I'm still on a generator. By the way, this is the a/c system I'm getting.

try looking at fordmuscle.com they used a taurus electric fan as mentioned above.

I got one for mine from Summit, it was a Summit brand fan with aluminum brackets, I removed the engine driven fan and moved the rad inward and installed the fan in front. Looks nice and it's a nice install.
