Why use 3 webers and not a autolite 1100 and 2 weber carbs?

I was just wondering, why would you use 3 webers carbs and not stay with the autolite and just add 2 webers to the ends?

Because the Webers are readily available brand new and some folks like a matched set.

If you have a good running 1100, it sounds like a good idea to just add two outboard matching carbs. The center carb is for idle through mid throttle with progressive setups and the outers basically flip open at close to WOT... Outer ports are typically for smaller throat carbs anyway.
