Will DUI Distributor work with Autolite 1100 Vaporizer Carb

I guess someone here needs stand up for the Unilite, seeing as I have one I guess it will be me.

First off, I found it brand new in the box in a box full of parts in my Dad's garage (where he bought it, not sure. It may have been Clifford). I couldn't pass up a free electronic dizzy.

Anyway, the thing has run flawlessly since installing it the summer before last. Since the upgrade, I have noticed: quicker starting, smoother idle, better millage, and better pickup. Pretty much everything everyone says they experience with the DUI.

Please keep in mind these are all subjective observations. Also, I have never used the DUI so I can not compare and contrast experience.

I just felt the need to defend the Unilite...

JMB;
1) I don't know, but I suspect that the Vaporizer is only set up for the SCV, which you don't want to use. That leaves manifold vacuum, see #2 below.
2) See the pic below, ignoring the carb. You can use either the port in the carb adapter plate, or the manifold direct - they're effectively the same. Many people use the adapter plate for the dizzy, and the manifold for the PCV.
3) Most any decent autoparts or hardware store will have a brass pipe-thread-to-hose-barb fitting
4) Not really, but it doesn't hurt.

jamyers,

Thanks a lot for your picture.

Do you know what size and where you bought the brass fitting that is connected to the dizzy vacuum hose on the picture above?

This is the brass fitting that I seem to have a problem finding.

You're most welcome. I don't know the size, but it'd be easy to take the adapter plate with you. I think I got that bit at either Lowe's or maybe Advance Auto Parts.

jamyers,

Thanks , I'll try to look at those stores.
What Carb are you using in that picture? How does it perform?

The carb is a HW5200, aka Weber DFV progressive 2-bbl.
They can be a chore to get jetted right - I used a wideband oxygen sensor. I love it - better mileage than the good Autolite 1100 I had, and a tad more oomph when floored. (now I need a cam  )
