this is pretty long, so thanks for all responses and tips n stuff.

I'm starting to get prepared for my winter project...its not too big but its big enough...an i REALLY dont want to run into problems...so I would like to make a check list of the tools i need for the installation so i can get them together and do this job in a weekend. What i want to do is install an upgraded head (It'll be from the 200 with a port/polish and modified log to accept a 2bbl carb...although if it needs hardend valve seats i'll spend the money on a newr 250 head and just practise on the 200)

I also want to install taller pistons...ive read 2 ways to do this...just wondering which is the best, easiest and cheapest...there was the 4.2 V8 pistons which are taller and dished a large amount...i would like to do this...are the pistons the same diameter as well? will they slide right in? from what i understant, the tempo pistons require an overbore...i might be wrong though (the 2.3 HSC flat tops ?)...if i can get tempo pistons from a 4 banger than i will probably do that since there are a lot of them at the wrecker. theres also the 6.00" rods from the tempo 2.5s ( is the 2.5 a 4cyl or 6 cyl :? ) can they be swapped without changing lifters or anything?

as for tools this is what i think i need..please let me know if i need other tools as well for this...

1) piston ring compressor
2) torque wrench and whatever wrenches and sockets i'll need (basic stuff i know i have)
3) some sort of sealer for the gaskets

Probably need a few small things like compounds or something i guess?

And to install the parts, is there anything new that i need to connect the piston to the connecting rod or can i use the old things (sorry cant remember the name...is it bosses? or boss guides?) i need new rings...no biggie...a new gasket...what would be the best material to get for this setup...i read for using the 4.2 pistons to use a 50-80 thou. gasket, what kinda material is that? can i use a metal gasket for the tempo pistons or should i also use the thicker gasket for that too if i go that way?

thanks again for your help
