xc tail lights

will the XC rear tail lights interchange between the coupes and the sedans? i dont think they do but down wana burn my bridges just incase.... my tail light lenses are all faded and dodgy, i want nice ones

does this workwell? the lensedye.... i didnt even know the stuff was available, or if i did i just assumed it was bollocks.... maybe ive just had a sheltered childhood... hahahaha

matty, if u were after coupe tail lights i just sold my custom set of clear lenses i had made for my coupe..... www.rarespares.net.au have new lenses for around $300 i think

lensedye, u mustnt be the only one with a sheltered life, havent heard of it either

I knew it as something sold for motorbike taillights. You have to clean and buff the lens first, then brush the dye on, let set and (my opinion but not 100% necessary), clearcoat over the plastic. About $13 for a little bottle of orange or red liquid.

Wanna be really cheap? Buy some Feast Watson "Proof-Tint" in red (at the hardware store paint section) and dilute it with metho - it's really strong. Brush on. The "Maple" colour might be best for the orange parts. I can't guarantee this won't leave the surface a little dull after, but you could hit it with Dupli-Color clear in a can.

MRJLB84D----- what did you sell in the way of "custom" lenses?? what was custom about them? got any photos of your coupe? ive only just got mine, and am looking for interesting ideas

ill see how i go with the lense dye, if it doesnt work ill just spend the dosh and get some new ones ($130 ea!!) not the biggest priority at the moment, paint first.....


some opinions from you guys while im on the subject of paint.... my coupe is already yellow, so ill be repainting it yellow.... im gonna put the black trim around the bottom of the car.. (im sure yous know what im talking bout) i also want to put two black stripes through the centre of the car (cobra style)---- ive had mixed opinions from friends on those stripes.... what do yous reckon... go for it or leave it???????

they were custom in the way that the lense was clear, noone makes clear lenses for the coupes, just the late model stuff.... sold em for $200 would of liked more but oh well.... contact me on msn if u want me to send u pics of them....i dunno how to post pics on forums

Black around the bottom - you mean that Ormonoid tar stuff, brushed over rust and filler? :roll:

With the centre stripes, you could go the Cobra ripoff, or maybe even borrow from XYs with the fine stripes on the outside... Why not take a few pictures and start drawing on them?

Just had a thought on the lens dye... The surface finish may not matter if you paint it inside the lens - why didn't I think of that before? :roll:

surprisingly there isnt any rust on the body! sorry, there is some around those drip tray things above the doors.... however a good mate is a pannel beater and all that will be replaced and welded, hopefully removing 'all' rust from the car (well all visible rust)
