262 rocker arms

Anybody know if the 262 and 223 use the same rocker arms? My 262 needs some new ones....I haven't found any but 223 ones are available. I haven't torn it down yet, but likely needs a new rocker shaft as well...

I have run 223 rockers on a 262 and they work just fine. Lack of oil to the rocker arm assembly causes premature wear to the rockers and shaft. Cutting a grove on the number three cam journal will help supply a constant flow of oil to the rocker arm assembly. The extra oil helps cool the valve springs and will extend valve train wear. I shim the oil pump to 50 psi warm. The extra oil pressure throws oil on the camshaft from the connecting rod side clearance (this can never hurt.) Modern pistons rings have no problem controlling the extra oil. Most of the old sixes can use a little tune up on the oil system.
