Horsepower comparison of a stock 250 2V to a 250 crossflow

Have you checked the tech articles here? I think there's at least some flow ratings for various heads in there.

Ok, Ill take the bait. IMO the 250 crossflow with alloy head and 2 barrel weber carb is a t least as good as a 250-2v, with better fuel consumption. A 250 EFI engine is just about the same as a stock 302v8. A 200ci alloy head crossflow is very similar to a 250-1v engine when driven in an XD-XE. A 200ci crossie with weber and alloy head is rated at 88kw net, which would be around what a 250-1v was, 155 gross. Since I have had both engines the crossflow IS superior to 250-2v and has many advantages, its lighter, has better thermal efficiency, is cheaper and far easy to get. Aftermarket parts are far more plentifull. It has the same sump, engine mounts, water pump, flywheel, bellbousing etc. Now that I have a blown 200 crossie, I know what i prefer. The crossie with its six exhaust ports sounds better IMO.

Thanks for the replies...so the 2V is 88kw, approximately the same as the 250 cross flow.
Can you supply approx HP for the 250 efi and the 302v8.

No the 88kw was for a 200ci crossie. A 250-2v would be around 95-100kw. the efi 250s were from memory 110kw. V8s rated at 149, but with added mass wouldnt have been much faster.
