0-60 TIMES

Howdy everyone, just wanted to know what your best 0-60 times are with you small 6's. Tonight I did a few tries and all were coming around 11-12 seconds, currently my only mods are my air cleaner/filter, my cherrybomb for an exhaust, and the duraspark ignition. does that sound about right? I definately didnt think it would be that fast.... Right now my new (later) head is at the machine shop being checked, and getting a valve job in preperation of a holley 2300 series 500cfm carb and then later a turbo! which if I'm lucky could knock a few more hundreths of a second off my 0-60! but only if I'm lucky...

Like I told you earlier tonight, I ran a crappy 12 with all my mods, but a sloppy automatic and in the rain. I never got a good chance to try again after the T5 install, but now with the rebuild I will have to see what I get

I used a stop watch yesterday and thought I would give it a go. 11.1. Now I still have the stock C4, torque converter and 71/4 axle with 2.83 gears. I can't launch my car at all.

I have an aussie head, 2bbl carb, pacemaker headers, electric fuel pump and fan.

One day I will upgrade the rear end and tranny and try again.

I would guess that Kelly's TurboFalcon is somewhere in the 6 sec. range for a 0-60 time. She's running like 75-80mph in the 1/8mile in 8 sec. or so.
I'll have to check her timeslips to confirm.

By stopwatch our crossflow coupe runs 0-60 in about 6 seconds. However Does10's Falcon would outrun me shortly after that.

Mustangsix, what tranny, converter if automatic and rear end are you running?

I had a friend with me when doing more times yesterday and the best I could do is 12.83 secs would his weight make that much difference? He weighs about 120 lbs.... but that was the best of 2 runs..... my 11 sumthn one was on about the 5th try. I dont know the exact time for I used my cd player and a cd to time it, that also may have made a difference....

Currently running a WC T-5, 8" rear with 3.00 gears. The biggest problem with acceleration is wheelspin in the first three gears.

Thats just mean, stop teasing me

But spinning through the first three gears is sssooo much fun.

Have you checked your speedo for accuracy? :?
umm not really, my dad followed me in his ram and they both matched up to 40 dunno how accurate his is tho either.... HAHAHAHAHA wheelspin through the first 3 gears... you know I can do that too.... when its raining I managed to. Also in a parkinglot near my house I can roast them up until sencond shift and get a little spin, dunno why I guess its because its pretty smooth asphault.... pretty cool though..... lol I made some little kids day, they ran out into the road and stopped me and told me to do a burnout.. I mean hey what could I say  ....... lol too much fun......

If you guys have so much power, you need a tire with a softer compound, or bf goodrich street slicks. Tire spin is wasted acceration.
The tires on my el-camino are 5 years old & the rubber has hardened. i need to replace the old hardened rubber with street slicks or a softer compound tire. This vehicle has so much torque that with the old tires i go sideways when i punch it a 45 mph.
In the near future i plan to install new tires all around just to keep it from going sideways.
Power is power no mater what vehicle you drive. If you can't get the power to the pavement you have nothing. More traction to you William

I think my best times with the cell phone stop watch have been in the low 13's. Unfortunately I am talking 0 to 60 times and I have checked my speedo for accuracy. T-5, 3.2 rear gears, & Weber 32/36. Not that impressive, but it is much more pleasant to drive than before. I don't slam thru the gears that well given the stock shift handle mated to the factory T-5 shifter. It must have about 12 to 18 inches of throw.

The tires will get an upgrade later this summer. Not sure what we're going to do, but we think we're going to go to Kumho Ecsta 712's. 245-50-16 on the rear and 225-50-16 on the front. Unless a really cheap set of 17" bullitt's comes along....

6 seconds is very impressive and "is believable". Im aiming for 6 to 6.5 when my Crossflow is eventually finished but it is not a 200. I say well done.

The Mustang is slightly faster than my turbo Mazdaspeed Miata and it can run 0-60 in about 6.7 or so. But the MSM has a Torsen, 4.11 gears, and a really low first gear on the six speed. The power to weight ratio is just a little better in the Mustang, though.

wheelspin? what's that? You'd think with my buildup, I should able to light 'em up right? Could the original Ford-O 2 speed be the problem? Stomp on it at 30mph and you'd better hold on...but off the line, she's quick, but just not tire-smoking quick. Still have more tuning to do of course as well.

Hopefully, the C4 swap will happen soon. I imagine I'll feel some real difference then, huh? I'm running 3.5 gears in the back.
