i have a 67 mustang with a 1v carter carb. i would like to replace it with a 2v. any suggestions for makes? i would also like to learn about the adapter plate/linkage setup necessary to make this work. i would also like to retain the stock air cleaner.

thanks!

There are a lot of 2V set ups. CLifford and Stovebolt are the more popular. Do a search for those topics. You will not be able to use the stock air cleaner unless you cut open the hole more.

I'd look at either a Weber 32/36 or a Holley 5200 (fairly close, Weber is bigger/more CFM)
Both are very nice, fairly easy to find, fairly inexpensive and adapters and air cleaners are readily available. I have a 32/36 on mine and I really love it and have had no problems.

I am about to put a Holley 2300 (350) on mine. Just got the carb adapter and bored the intake hole out to the size of my newly rebuilt head's and all I need is the carb back from Dan (Importkiller) He is rebuilding it for me. Everything's ready to fire up once I get it back, Ill let you know how it goes.

I have the Weber 38DGAS 2 BBL carb on my car. If you are running the stock, unmodified head with the integral fuel log, Clifford has a kit that includes the carb, mounting adapter, and linkage adapters. It has everything that you would need.
If you are running, let's say an Aussie head, the kits from Clifford are of no use. You would need a machine shop to build you an adapter to fit the Aussi intake bolt patern. You will also need to go with a throttle cable set up and possibly a new gas pedal. I have some experience in this area, since I just converted everything over. I went with Lokar parts instead of using parts from a salvage yard. It costs more, but works really nicely. If you are interested in any of my conversion, I can send you the part numbers for everything and pictures.

strat1960s, would you send me the information and pictures of your linkage setup?

Thanks.

If you are running the stock head, I still have the adapter that Clifford sent me. If you want it, I can send it to you for the cost of postage.

strat1960s, thanks for the cable throttle information! Oh, and if you are still giving away that Clifford adapter, I'll take it. Just send me your mailing address and I'll send you some money for postage.
