170/200 distributors...are they different?

I haven't posted in a while, but I've been lurking around. I've asked this on other forums, and am still confused, so I'll ask the experts...
Is there a difference in 170 and 200 distributors? Can they be used on each other? Thanks.

No difference between 170 and 200. There was a change in oil pump drive shaft around 1964-'65 from 1/4" to 5/16". Those two are not interchangeable.

Okay. I probably can't use the (66)200 in my(64) Mustang 170, then. Thanks.

You could find out in about 5 minutes by simply pulling the dizzy from the 170 and measuring the shaft. If it is 5/16" you're in buisness.
