All Small Six 1jz rod question

This relates to all small sixes
fast64ranchero and several others have used the 1jz connecting rods.
Do a search for "1jz"
The 1jz rods big end width is wider than the stock rod width and the journal size is smaller so the crankshaft rod journals will have to be reworked.
Will also need custom pistons.

How well did your first turbo 200 work?

Check with fast64ranchero to be sure, but I think that he had the crank grinder, grind the crank to fit and left the rods alone.
On the custom boost rated pistons the thinner metric rings are better than the stock one's but make sure that you can get rings in the thickness, material and size you need before the piston is made. Get the upgraded stronger piston pin. You will like these rods because they are floating and you can take them apart and assemble them yourself. Only overbore as needed to clean up no more.
You could offset grind the crank some but the bore is short and the pistons already come more out of bore than I like as is.
Figure the pin height so it comes out at zero deck. Your piston dish will need to be figured out to get the compression you want to run. Give the crank grinder a rod with bearing so he can grind the crank pin radius as large as practical, the crank will be stronger.

Thanks for the advise always appreciated . I have researched what it takes to use the 1jz rods . I just wanted to make sure nobody had any unexpected surprises. I'm working with a machinist who specializes in building high performance race engines, so I'm taking his advice on piston specs. To answer pmullers question how's the first engine doing. it was running very well until one of my long trips. I'm using holly hp. I've had no issues until it ramdonly started going momentarily dead leen at 2000 and 2500 rpm. I hurt cylinders 1 and 6. Compression is under 100psi,and it's smoking pretty bad. There are a few changes I wanted to do on the current engine. So now I'll build another one. I'm hoping the current engine is not hurt to bad I've been planning another vehicle I really want to build.
