guys, i've already asked this question in the 240-300 forum and they sent me here. i have a 300 that we want to put an adapter on the original intake to take it from a 1 bbl to a 2 bbl. does anyone know of a supplier that might make this? the only thing clifford's offers is a 4 bbl to 2 bbl adapter.

What is the motor in....
are you sure it a 1 bb carb ??? I didn't know they put 1's on the big six's I thought they were all 2 b carb. does it have 1 or 2 screw's at the front of the carb in the base plate of the carb... if it has 2 mixtures screw's then its already a 2 b carb...

They put plenty of 1bbl's on the big sixes.

However, I question the wisdom of using an adapter to put a 2bbl on the 1bbl manifold when 2 and 4 bbl manifolds are available.

it's a 68 ford truck and original. it is definitely 1 bbl, i think it was the late 70's when they went 2 bbl from the factory.

this truck is just an old beater, don't want to spend $300 on a 4 bbl intake and then also have to buy a 2 bbl/4 bbl adapter.

Maybe go to a junk yard and find a 300 with a 2b carb and get the 2b manfold and carb for prob under $100.oo. just about any year would bolt up..

obviously that would be something we would have considered, but the factory 2 bbl setups that came on the later 300's was nothing to brag about, i've never heard anything but bad stories about those.

Howdy Back SD44 and All:

I'm assuming this truck has a 300 six???

If so it came stock with a Carter YF one barrel. FoMoCo used the YF series carb until they switched to FI. TTBOMK this engine never came from Dearborn with a two barrel carb.

The 300 truck YF was the largest CFM carb at 197. The Carter's have a wider bolt spacing and larger throttle bore then the Small six one barrels. So, it's likely that any adapter from a small six will have to be modified to fit on a big six. It will not be much of a problem as mounting holes can be slotted and throttle bore reamed out.

Have you picked the two barrel you'd like to use?

What is your goal for this truck?

Adios, David
