200 6 swap

I've got an opportunity to buy a 200 i6 EOBE-6090-BB
Completely rebuilt even has a Clifford valve cover. Has everything but carb. Would this work to swap I to my 65?

Welcome aboard.
Yes that engine will work for your 65.
Since its a later engine you will need a carb. which will match your distributor.
You will have to use a high starter mount to match your 65 transmission & bell housing. Bill

Howdy Mike:

And welcome to The Forum. In addition to BIll's points, know that the front pulley system on the EOxx 200 is longer than on your '65s engine. That includes the water pump, crank pulley and other belt driven components. Check the amount of room between engine and radiator on your '65 to help you decide which way to go. Some have solved this by moving the radiator forward. Others by swapping to earlier pulleys.

Also know that the later six is rated down on compression as compared to your '65- 9:1 on the '65 200 and 8.2:1 on the EOxx. It is an easy to solve problem with machining the head. Since the newer engine had a Clifford VC it may have already had modifications. Check for paper work with the owner.

The engine upgrade is probably still a good way to go depending on the condition of your '65 engine, the condition of the EOxx, and the asking price of the upgrade engine. Check it out and keep us posted on your decision and progress.

Adios, David

Welcome to the Ford Six forums Mike. X2 on all the good info you received above! Besides those items the rear sump oil pan and its matching oil pump pickup tube will need to be changed over to a front sump type pan and pick up like is currently on your 1965 engine. You can certainly use your old 65 oil pan and pickup tube to swap on the newer block if they are still in good usable condistion or you can buy new ones.

Also check the blocks rear trans bolt patern / bell housing area there are some of these later blocks used in the 1980's Fox chassis cars. Thay will use a low mount starter and a bell housing that looks like 2/3's of a SBF V8 this won't just bolt up to your existing transmission it will require some other parts to make it fit togeather. Once you determine what the engine has let us know and we can further advise you. Good luck

"...swap I to my 65?..."
My '65 what?
What will the vehicle be used for?
Can you ID all the components in your current vehicle? Do you know the differences between the '65 (you seem to have) and the EO? the EO seems to indicate (if on head only/is it on block too?) a '75 - 83 head.
If you say you already have a '64+ block indicating upgradable ign/carb/head. You not just leave it in there (if compression = OK) other systems are good - and work the OE head over, swap it on?

See the Handbook & above tech for pointers...

Tell me more about your application. The more specific the Q - the more specific the answer!
