200 or 250?

Howdy, not sure what to do. I have a very good 221 head which I was planning on putting on a 200 with a 250 cam. now I'm ththinking it would be just easier to put a 250 in with the 221 head on it. what do others think please.

250 with 221 head will raise the CR slightly, we would need to see photos of the 221 head to be sure. Ive always found the extra torque of the 250 to be just the ticket in a street application. 250 has a more common crankshaft flange that you will find easier to get flywheels to fit. 250 has same flange as a V8. As to cams, they are all the same in respect to timing, however 250s have more relief cast into them for con rod clearance, which means you could use a 250 in the smaller sixes, but not the other way around. I would suspect that any of the aftermarket cams wont have this problem. If this is going into a Transit van, use the 250, you may need to alter the axle ratio for best cruising. later transits had the Australian made BW axles, early single wheel used some incantation of Zephyr axles.
