215 ohv valve adjustment

has anyone adjusted the valves on a 215 with the valve cover off and engine running? my brother had adjusted his valves on his 223 that way years ago.

I have done it many times on the 223's nerver worked on a 215 but they should adjust the same.

Works well and is much faster because the crankshaft does not need to be positioned for each individual valve adjustment. The down side is that it tends to chew up the feeler guage. It does require you to develop a "feel" for the right clearance.

thanks fellas. im gonna try it when the weather warms. ive been told to warm the engine to operating temp and to slow the idle as much as possible.

Yeah warmed up real good will be good and if in good condition will idle way down
