Just got my 250 2v head today :P

Sooo... Does anyone have an inlet manifold for me? Or know of somewhere to get one? (in NZ preferably)

Gave it a sandblasting at work to get rid of all the old paint and surface rust (which was thankfully, only surface rust), turned out really great, looks like new.
Now just got to paint it, new valve guides, maybe new valves, they arnt bent or anything, just a little rough from the blasting, get it machined flat again....
Then bolt it on and fllllyyyyyy

hmmmm might help if i have a manifold and carby too...

i know of one in oz (vic) for sale. i think he wants around $100 for it. i'd be happy to pack and send it for you if you are interested.

fixer941, Im interested mate, can I have a few pics of it?
2 barrel or 4?

Shipping will be to Palmerston North, nth Island, NZ... Sooo... How much do you think that would cost?

its a 2 bbl but its also at the wreckers down the road so i cant get pics for now, it is in pretty good nick though, as for postage i'm not sure of weight (perhaps someone else here might have one that they could weigh) so using the aus post calculator they say that using economy air post and assuming it weighs 7.5kg it would cost around $60.50 to post which makes it add up :o just let me know if you want me to grab it for you, no real rush its been hanging in his roof for 15 years so i dont see it dissapearing any time soon :)

I just sent one to the states , it was 4.5kg wrapped in double layer of bubble wrap and 3 layers of cardboard.(no carb on it)

Cheers Dave

Aww you basterd Dave! Don't happen to have one stashed under your bed or something do you?

Or does anyone have a blueprint that I can use to fab my own?

Oh, and how much does milling the head flat cost? (NZ or Aus)

i have done this and thought it wont go anywhere but buy it because there getting hard to find.i could have bought a 2v head complete with manifold and carb for $150,i didn't have the money at the time and i thought i'll get it latter went back in 3 months with the cash and you wouldn't belive it a guy bought it last week,it had been there for 5 years.never again

its just a shame no-one yelled out earlier, i just gave away a head, manifold, extractor and fully rebuilt ww stromberg set up with my car, the clown who bought it would have paid me the same for the car without it :(

Thats a bugger fixer, lesson learnt for next time aye?
Is that other manifold still available, with carb maybe?
I'll take it, just might take a little time for me to get the cash, I'm a bit strapped after laying down $300 for the head, then another $900 for a new fridge...

i went down there today and its still there, he wants $120 for it. as for the carb, i do have a twin throat weber for it (from an xe) that you can have but it will need a kit through it and an adapter plate made to suit, or you can get the ww strombergs off the early commodore 253 v8's and change the linkages tu suit that said, i also have a speco holly adapter plate that you can have if you ask nicely :D i'm going o/s to live at the end of may though so keep that in mind too

Mmmmkay... Thanks mate, very helpful!
Your in Aus at the moment right?

Can you offer $80 and see what he says?

Hows your project progessing?
Tim.
Sorry busy week.
I went and got a new job and no longer working saturdays.
My mate from my current job is building the motor for me and is a slack mother ?, so ive contacted the machinst with my motor.

It s now been bored to suit the 20" flat tops and the old pistons removed for treatment of the rods. Im going to dremel them casting lines smooth, is it a good idea to have em shot up a little?
The head was stuffed up by the first guy :x old fellas with expierence are slack asses not interested in HP.
Now ported to match stock manifold. Rebuilt holley 500 with manual choke and 50cc acel pump.
I brought 2VTims cam which is a wade 225.5/232.5 which is good for exhaust with a 114lsa so hopefully its street friendly, thanks Tim.
It has .471 lift and im getting larger inlets valves and the exhausts are already larger.
Inlets are ported the exhausts getting done, inserts for unleaded. Crow single springs.
Pacemakers, 2 1/4 with muffler and resinator. CHROME TIP!
Blocks been bathed, bored and tested, new bearings all round. Ballence will be done obviously. Got an XE dizzy fully rebuilt and recurved crow gear fitted, leads, new oil punp and water pump.
Stock balancer (new),Crow timing set.
Need a think head gasket and lifters.
Does anyone know a number on the head gasket?

Also which is the best and possibley cheapest clutch for it?
Ive got a new stocky and will see how long see lasts!
Is AU the way to go?
Cant wait, money permitting.
Cheers Steve

Steve
If your worried that that cam may be a little bit hot for your set up (I still think it will work but is max) you can get a multi key way timing set and ask the installer of the cam to "advance" it a bit (which in effect lowers the usable RPM range making it more streetable).

Tim, no worries man. Me and my mate will dial it in and probally advance it 2 degree as its got 2.92 rear end and it is manual so theres no stall just lets boogie. The duration on my old cam was 214/224 with .450 lift so with the porting and larger valves ill get the most out of the extra duration and especialy the lift. Ill advance it just to get it off the line earlier as the 500 and smallish exhaust and the fact its a daily will stop it from being a screamer.
Quiet, big lsa, quiet, stock looking, not quiet, off into the distance. He he.
Cheers Steve

Id run a RPM CLutch for a EB-EL 4.0... U will need youre fly wheel redrilled.. There biggger in diameter and with much more clamping force.. around $250-300 pluss getting the flywheel machined and re-drilled for the 6 bolt clutch allow 400 all up.. sounds a heap but works great
