250 Bellhouse question.

The 250 Bell / clutch application' ' is same as 60's 289/302 SBF. My 250 now has a C5DA SBF 157 T bell with a T5 adapter .

I need a steel blow-proof bell and need to know if all SBF bell's fit the 250. Will it fit 250 if the application says: "302,351w and 351c " ?.

Anyone know of a suitable 157T SBF to T5 scattershield for 250?. Used SBF S'Shield with current adapter probably least expensive ...

Thanks

8) the engines that use the same bell housing pattern are the 250, 240/300, mid 65 and later 289, 302, 351w, 351c, some early 400's. in fact not only do the bell housings interchange, the flywheels and flex plates also interchange to a point. while they bolt on, the balance factors are different. if you want a blow proof bell housing for the T5, get one for an 85-93 mustang 5.0. understand that this bell is set up for a cable clutch, and you will need to use a cable clutch, relocate the pivot point for the clutch fork, or convert to a hydraulic clutch system, i like the one that dazecars sells (www.dazecars.com) brackets for.

one more thing, when you get the bell housing, you can either get the one that allows for both ring gear tooth combinations, or you can specify which fly wheel you are going to use. i think it is lakewood that makes the bell housing where you can use either ring gear tooth count(157 or 164). remember that any fly wheel you buy can be rebalanced to work with your 250.

Thanks for the response,

As far as I've learned, The 250 can only use the 157T flywheel for the 250 Block starter plate position. This limits bell choices if correct. Neutral balance 157T FW's are not common but are avilable or a "bolt on" imbalance weight type can be used - sans weight.
