I just picked up a 66 mustang and draged it home Now that I've looked it over I see thats theres a 1975 250 in it they didn't change over the ex. man. its just half-ass caped and theres no air cleaner on it when I dig up a air cleaner will it hit the hood it looks real close now and if so what can be done to fix this like swaping what parts, a 200 head or can I find a lower carb. to use

The 70's 250's had a dropped air cleaner. It is only about 1.5" over the carb throat.

so are you say I should look for a 70 and up stock air cleaner off a 250 to use on this set up, and whats fords would work the best

Pretty much, yeah. But I don't know what size the base plate is so you'd have to do your own measurments.

Lost me on the base plate is this the bottom metal part of a stock air cleaner if so thank you

How about finding one of the ones like this?
possibly the best air filter assembly ever (more pics on the thread)
