250 or 200 head?

Now I see it's probably a '81 - '83 head on a '78 block

the 8 in my number probably have to be a B.

But there's one more thing, when I look to the 250-head castings there's the same number. Is this the same head?

Tnx

Howdy joost:

For any given year/casting # after 1969 we have been unable to find any difference between a 200 head and a 250 head.

The 250 engines were used in production through the 1980 model year.

I know of no way to tell if an E0XX head came from the factory on a 200 block or a 250 block. For all practical purposes, given the same casting numbers, the 200 and 250 heads, after 1969, are the same.

FoMoCo used deck height and piston dish volume to change the compression ratio.
