250 rods

What is the big end width and center to center length of the US 250 rod? Also, what years are forged? Another dumb idea stewing.

250 Rods were forged until 1978. Should be a C9 (DE?) casting number.

Thanks, those two factoids (length and forging dates) were the two I wasn't so sure of. Wow, that puts the stock piston ridiculously far down in the hole.

About 925 thou, I think. Small block Fords are less, at about 845 thou.

Can't find the source, but AlloyDave has a massive ACL international cataloge PDF file. Do a search for Rob the Viking's last post. It was in there.

The details take a bit of leg work. I've got some big posts of all conrod and engine data of US engines since the 60's to 88, which may have the data. Panic has quite a lot of info, but this is fairly specialised.

I went out and pulled a couple of freezing cold rod caps off a core D7 200 short block yesterday morning, cleaned them off, let them get to room temp, and they miked out at .9933" - .9935". Does that sound right? 200 and 250 rods are supposed to be the same width. I think .925" might be the width of the bearings?, I'll check when I get home tonight.
Thanks,
