250 swap parts list

I've found a decent 250 that i'm about to start rebuilding. can someone help me with a list of parts, and what needs to be done to stuff this thing into my mustang.

so far i'm planning on an electric fan, like Doug's, and possibly an aluminum radiatior, if there's one that will fit

I want to direct mount a holley 2bbl, again, ala Doug, with lo-pro air cleaner (i've considered an offy, but there would probably be too many clearance issues)

slotted motor mounts

what next?

thanks in advance -B

you have read the article on the homepage, right (just makin sure)? it sounds like there's gonna be a lotta little nit-picky type stuff, new lower radiator hose, starter, etc.

as long as you read that i think you'll be fine, biggest thing might be the tranny

Howdy Back PI:

I put a '72 250 and a standard trans into my '65 Ranchero, which is a bit different than a Mustang. Jack is the source on this one. You didn't say what trans you currently have or what will be behind the 250. Getting the engine down and as far back as possible is a key.

Also know that the 200 radiator uses 1.5" inlet and outlet, while the 250 used 1.75" bungs.

Also, when rebuilding your 250 know that the excessive deck height is the albatross with these engines. Mine had .150". Options to get the deck height down to a performance size are to use .085" taller 255 V8 flat-top pistons, deck the block, off-set grind the crank throws to slightly stroke the crank, or to use the slightly longer 2.5 HSC rods.

All other mods are pretty standard.

Enjoy the trip.

Adios, David
