my tri-power head is almost ready to bolt on, i milled it to 48cc's which would add up to about 75 thou milled off, will 60thou washers work to keep the head bolts from bottoming out?
Before you assume they will bottom , check it out I milled .120 off the head , and .100 off the block and Then I needed the washers ( good Idea anyway ) , just make sure they are AN and Hardened , ( the ones for a Small Block Chevy will work )
Run a couple of head bolts into the block without the head on it and see how tall they stand above the deck surface compared to the thickness of the head. Washers wouldn't be a bad idea either, but no sense using them if they really aren't needed though.
7/16" is equal to just over .043". Pioneer has a kit of 34 .060" thick washers for around $5.00. Part #S-1018. Most machine shops will be able to order from Pioneer for you. Other options if you can't fine a .060" thick set of washers; grind off the bottom end of the head bolts, use a set of washers from a late GM six.
Ge sure to chase the threads in the bolt hole and clean out the bottom of the holes.
