hey guys, just installed my C4 and started up my falcon, noticed a little tappet noise, so i let it run for about five mins. to see if it just needed to catch oil. Well when it didn't stop :bang: i shut it off and pulled the valve cover and started it up to find that it just wasn't oiling. so i need some advice as to what to do please! Thanks, vince.

When I first got my '63 Wagon I thought lifters were noisy, after a week or so, I looked in filler/breather cap to see a dry rocker shaft! .

I removed VC and rocker shaft and cleaned it as per the Falcon Six handbook' and ran that engine for a few years until it got transplanted to another 63' , still running I believe ...

As long as rear oil passage through last stanchion isn't plugged, cleaning - opening rockers and shaft should help. IF it's been dry for a while, replacing rockers and shaft may be an option. .. still takes seemingly too-long for oil to reach top of healthy Log engine .. :?

have fun

Hmm ok, I'll try that. Now this engine was a great runner, I pulled it about 6 Months ago and it sat since then until I got the tranny and everything else. Anyway, how would I go about cleaning them? I can't find anything on that haha.
Thanks alot!
Vince

On some of the early small 6s I ran a copper line from a tee at the oil pressure fitting on the side of the block. Up through the valve cover gasket and into the iside of the back of the rocker shaft.

Got it! You guys are awesome! I just gotta go get U-joints and I'm on the road again!
I'll post some pics of my wagon sometime

One thing you can do to test is to run your oil pump with a drill after you reconnect it. You'll see oil flowing without having to start the engine.
