I know the blocks are different, thanks to a post I read here. saved me a lot of trouble. was going to install a rebuilt 65 200 in my 66 bronco but now I can see that won't work. Now I plan on taking all the parts off the 65 and milling the 66 block .030 over to match the 1965 overbore.
I guess I would know when I tear down the 66 but it has all new gaskets and if it didn't work I would just put the 66 in the way it is.
thanks

Some of the first 200s were not seven bearing motors. They are rare but there are still some floating around. Count the core plugs on the block.
3 plugs = 4 bearing motor
5 plugs = 7 bearing motor

... Which brings up a question wether the later 170's with 3 freeze plugs are all 7 main or not. I have a great running 170 out of a '71 Maverick with a modded 250 head that I often wind over 5000 RPM. I've heard both sides of this but haven't yet opened it up to confirm .

If it has 3 freeze plugs it's a 4 main bearing motor. None of the 7 main motors have 3 plugs, and none of the 4 bearing motors has 5 plugs.
