does anyone know the difference in weight between tne 9inch and borgwarner diff

mts

Yep. I too would be very interested to hear the answer to this question.

About 60 kilograms. The 2.75:1 disc brake GXL 5.8 auto was 1729 kg, the GXL 4.9 auto was about 1665 kilos. There are issues over the weight of the heavy duty alternator, the 5.8's FMX trans verse the 4.9's C10, and discs, but there you go.

They are from Wheels 1977.

The FMX piece of crap would be a lot of the weight difference!

:D :D    :D :D

The C10 is heavier than the C4. The FMX with alloy bell is 170 pounds all up ( 77 kg). The all-alloy C4 is half the weight of the cast iron FMX, about 38 kilos. The pan fill C10 (the Aussies so-called Cleveland C4 with truck like detachable bell housing and 164 tooth flexplate) is more likely to be about 45 kilos.

Taking 32 kilos off the 60 kilos gives us only about 28 kilos extra for the 9 incher. I'd guess the drum brakes on theBorg Warner diff would be heavier than the GXL discs.

Geez I hate weights. Like HP. The more you study, the more you forget. The more you forget, the less you know. The less you know, the less you help.

I'm adpoting a new pose.
