I was asking about this dizzy on ebay and this is what the guy said.

"I think its just an oem unit the engine was in a mercedes that I parted out and the wires that are there are there thanks for your interest"

Someone put a 200 in a mercedes? Has anyone heard of that before i just foud it odd.

I have seen pics of all kinds of American engines in Mercedes, Mostly 70's and 80's models. Sometimes happens when they get a estimate to rebuild or replace a Mercedes motor.

My guess is that what whoever rebuilt teh car had sitting around, probably originally had a Mercedes inline six in it.

I have pics of a 67 Cougar with a Mercedes inline six Diesel in it. Looked pretty stock too.

Its a compact little straight six, like said above he probably just had it setting around. It isnt usually worth it to rebuild/replace OEM engine in car like that for more than car would sell for.

I once put a Dodge slant six in a Volvo wagon that had a clapped out diesel. Same kinda difference. And it usually is nice combination as the foreign cars big enough to handle an American straight six were high dollar with well designed suspensions. I always liked my Volvo Valiant.

Now an older Jaguar with a 300 and a T5, that would be a nice combo.....

Its a shame most people transplanting engines always go for 350 Chebby.

I am not familiar with anyone who has installed a Ford inline six in a Mercedes. But when I was thinking of replacing my stock pressure plate (a 8.5"p.p. behind a 66' - 200cid) with a diaphragm type p.p. a while back, I read the "sticky" on pressure plates and supposedly a p.p. for a 86' to 91' (I believe it was) Mercedes 190E is also a 8.5" pressure plate like many of the 60's Ford applications. Maybe an inline in a Mercedes is not out of the question??? I would think that the motor mount location(s) may need alterations; but I am not familiar with this set-up. Interesting! Jim

Working on it now. 200 w/ T5 into a '68 "230" (2.3L 6 cyl.).

I had had a lot of problems with the Mercedes' aluminum head corroding from the inside. Decided the small Ford six will go in almost perfectly. Most difficult problem is the weird oil pan of the Mercedes.

Started Posting about it approx. 8 months ago, then my last head went dead and put me in the middle of needing to do something.

Life gets in the way.
