I don't see an oil filter really increasing capacity. If you look at a clear fuel filter while it is flowing, it never fills all the way up (air bubble inside) I imagine an oil filter does the same thing.
Everyone has an opinion, I'll offer mine: There isn't any need to go larger than the FL1-A. It is a great filter and cheap.
Also, I tried an eperiment on my F-250 where I used an oil filter cutter (I am an aircraft mechanic, the same tool for airplane filters works for Ford filters) to cut my filters apart at 3,000 miles, 5,000 miles, 7,500 miles and 10,000 miles.
After doing a thorough examination and finding pretty much nothing, I now always run my oil filters to 10,000 miles or more. They are cheap, but I just can't justify replacing something that doesn't need to be replaced.
