well...after redoing the carb again and having the black smoke again and hardly running, i did the compression check...120 thru all 6 cylinders except #3 which was still only 125...so its lowish but consistant. I ordered in a rebuilt carter carb which is costing me 150 bucks with a 20 dollar core charge...regular price is 210.00

but I'm a regular and get the "good mans discount", lol. so if that doesnt fix the problem then I'm in the poor house (unless i dig into gas money and then savings, which i dont want to do).
its weird that it suddently acted up like this, but i might have an idea how to fix it. there was a small hole that got covered up before with JB weld, which i opened up again today..must have been a metering hole or something, but maybe its actually running as rich as i have it set for now... I have the metering rod adjustment screw tightened quite a bit so maybe its just dumping fuel in

I'm gonna get some parts together to make a non funtional carb for the core charge part...at least i can keep this carb to experiment with and still have a new stock carb. Let u know how things go tomorrow though.
going to a buds house tonight so i can go to work tomorrow, but i wont get off till about 6ish, but my dad said he'd get the carb and install it, so thats pretty cool..hopefully the cars running for saturday.
