Howdy 64Falcon200:

What are you attempting to do?

I have heard that some Ford distributors came with an adjustible cannister. It is adjusted by inserting the correct size Allen wrench into the nipple and tightening or loosening. Tightening delays and lessens advance, loosening has advance beginning sooner and in a greater amount.

To the best of my knowledge, there is not adjustibility built into a DuraSparkII distributor. The only other option is to modify the advance plate slots by adding material to shorten movement to lessen the amount of advance, or to extend the slot.

Different applications used a different cannister with specifications specific to use.

Several of us have tried to adapt the Crane adjustible vacuum cannister for Ford V8 distributors to our DSIIs with no success.

You can try using either a ported vacuum source or a manifold vacuum source for different effects too.

What carb are you working with? What cam?

Adios, David

I have the stock cam and an autolite 2100 and I have been playing around with the ignition timing, I have the vaccum advance hooked up to the manifold right now and wanted a little more advance at idle without affecting the total advance at high rpms as I have that set the way I want it.
