Well I just bought a 67 coupe!

Now I have been busy ordering parts to upgrade. From Stovebolt I ordered holley/weber 2bbl w electric choke, and their adapter which I am going to drill to eliminate the ford adapter/spacer. but do not know in my mustang with this combo what I can use for an Air Cleaner (Of course if I have a choice I want some chrome) So suggestions are really welcome,

I have a duraspark II from 79 Fairmont coming and I wish to change the spring for the Police Interceptor timing but I have not ordered the spring yet (I guess Summit or someone like this?)

I am ordering headers from Ford 6 Perf.
and I have a 2inch 289 dual exhaust kit with turbo mufflers comming as well.

Besides my air cleaner question anything else I should do, whatch for any other reccomendations? As of this time I am not going for a cam or any internals.

I will admit I had alway been a Chev Man in the past this is my first adventure trying Ford I am anxious and learning!

Tim

For air cleaners, the obvious choice is the standard square air cleaner that Weber makes for the carb. You can get them with tall and short filters if height is an issue (shouldn't be since you are going to eliminate the ford spacer).

There are also some higher-flowing, more modern looking aircleaners made for the Webers like these:

There is universal air filter adapter for the 32-36 dgv style to 5 1/8:

Lastly, you could use a snorkle to a remote air cleaner like this:

I've always thought the little square air filters were a bit small for our "bigger" engines...

Cheap and Easy = You could get a Ford Pinto/MustangII/Capri base like I did, and put whatever lid on it you want. Look at the bottom of my engine swap thread for pics ( http://fordsix.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31268 )

I tried the 'police interceptor' timing and didn't like it, you can have my springs if you want them. Just PM me your address and I'll mail them.

Is Tom sending you any particular carb jetting setup? Take a look at the "Weber 32/36 Jetting tips" sticky thread at the top of this section.

You can use almost any air cleaner you want as long as there is adequate clearance. If there is not adequate clearance, you can still use a lot of air cleaners by using a drop base and a shorter filter. For example, I used an Edelbrock 14 inch chrome air cleaner with a dropped base that came with a 3 inch filter. I fabrciated an adapter out of sheet metal to mount to the carb base and epoxied the part to air cleaner base. Then I used a 2 inch filter instead of a 3 inch and it works fine. See the pics below:

Good luck and have fun!
