Well, I'm almost done. I got everything back together today. Took a minute but I got it started up, let it idle for a couple minutes, and put it in reverse. Soon as I did this, I noticed two things.
1) I put a donut on there, but there was already one on there. How in the world do I get that thing off? It is like welded/rusted on there
I took a pry-bar to it, but don't have any leverage. I sprayed some "loosener" on there, but no luck yet. That was probably the smoke coming from the engine bay - the stuff burning. I tried just using the old one, but it didn't really work. Not sure why. Any suggestions?
2) When I put it in reverse, and backed up, or when I put it in drive, and increased to like 20 mph, I hear a "clanking." It is repetitive. The only way I know how to describe the rhythm of it is something my Dad told me once. He said they would tie Zip-ties to people's driveshafts, and when they took off, it would hit and go clunk clunk clunk with the turn. That's essentially what it sounded like. I thought maybe the brakes or something? I don't know where to start with that. Any ideas?
edit: Oh, and I put some tranny fluid in there, and it helped a tad, but it still does it. and another - It didn't do this in Park, just in Reverse and Drive
Other than that, the car ran GREAT in park
and didn't die once. Well, it died when I put it in reverse and accidentally had the parking brake on
but none other than that
